Hello , I need cheering up.. . . . . I have been awake since 4.15 today with the awful reflux / inflammation of the oseophusgus. I have had this before. Do any of you suffer like this ? I have been told is is a build up of the anti inflams (naproxim) I have not rung the doc and just doubled my dose of the lanzopl. So I hope it will see get better. I am fed up of watching day time tv. and I am too scared to eat . But the sun is shining so things could have been worse. Rose from Sunny Somerset x

Hi Rose, Hope you feel better soon. I had that when I was taking diclofenac, and was told I could double my omeprazole. Have you raised your pillow up? I found that helped with the reflux, though admittedly I didn`t sleep so well! Take care, Kathleen x

Hi Rose
Sorry the pants RA is getting you down- that reflux is nasty. I hate it! I have lansoprozole too- plus I have gaviscon to neck when needed.
I cant take a lot of the anti-inflams so I have celebrex. its not a normal choice nowadays, but it is gentler on the tum and seems to keep a lid on the inflammation for me.
The sun is shining here too, Im going to try and have a rest as I am hoping to get out (steady on Jen! out in a evening is a big event here!!!) tonight to a church event.
I am doing a bit of laptop shopping as mine has several things wrong on it and is more money to repair than replace. Quite enjoying looking to be honest.
do you have an ipod Rose? I have downloaded these relaxation imagery things that seem to help me relax more and think of good things rather than the crap we have to deal with.

Hi Rose,
Sorry to hear you have this problem. I can't take anti-inflammatories at all. I hope the extra Lanzaprozol works for you.
Love, Doreen xx

Hi Rose,
I know this is nasty and gets you down. I couldn't tolerate diclofenac due to stomach probs but can tolerate the naproxyn with 40mg omeperazole a day. It would be worth asking to try a different anti-inflammatory - there a quite a few out there and we all react differently to then. Don;t put up with it for too long and the acid can seriously damage your oesophagus and throat. Good luck.

Hi Rose-yes I get this too it's horrible. Both my sister and myself have been prescribed Gaviscon (you can buy it over the counter) and it really helps with this. YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.

Hi Rose Its always a catch 22 with this arthur isn't it... take tablets to help relieve pain and inflammation, then more tablets to counteract the side effects and then the medication affects other parts of us... Totally understand your frustration. I was diagnosed with oesophagitis last year and some days are worse than others. I don't get the heart burn or anything like that.. just a nasty bitter taste and a very squeaky voice! Love Somerset! Hi Rose and anyone else who takes Naproxen!! I have been on the stuff for yonks (literally ) , about 17/18 years on and off. I too have experienced oesophagitis, acid reflux and voice problems, especially when taking the 500mg tablets. I have also taken Lansoprazole alongside the Naproxen. In desperation, last year, my GP changed the Lansoprazole (once a day) to Omeprazole (twice a day) and hey presto ... problem almost solved. So for anyone taking Lansoprazole and experiencing problems an alternative stomach protector might just be the answer As Julie says there are lots of anti inflammatories available and it's worth trying others until you find the one that is right for you. Hope it settles soon, it can make you feel very miserable. Lyn x

If you're able to go on the Cox-2 anti-inflammatories then I found them very good for stomach problems... Unfortunately with a history of heart problems in my family, I had to come off the Cox-2's Helly x Celebrating 10yrs of National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society Doing a Tandem Skydive - May 2011 - All Sponsorship Welcome - www.justgiving.com/helencopeland Read my blog - Helly Copeland
